A key at the bottom of the map shows that Dust Bowl states are shown in brown, areas with most severe dust storm damage are shown in red, and other areas damaged by dust storms are shown in yellow. Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas are shown in brown. An area at the convergence of states lines at southeast Colorado, southwest Kansas, western Oklahoma, northern Texas, and northeastern New Mexico is shown in red. The northern half of Texas, most of Oklahoma, the northeastern third of New Mexico, most of Colorado, most of Kansas, all of Nebraska, the eastern third of Wyoming, the southern half of South Dakota, the southeast corner of Montana, and the southwest corner of North Dakota is shown in yellow.
